This is somebody's side project

Nudge Me Later is built and run by one person on a computer at home, for friends and family. It isn't a company, there's nothing to pay, and nobody's selling anything or looking at your data to sell you something.

No promises about it working

It's offered exactly as it is, with no warranty and no guarantee it'll be up when you need it. Home internet drops, power goes out, an update breaks something. It gets fixed when it gets noticed.

Don't lean on it for anything that really matters

A nudge can be late, or not arrive at all. Please don't use it as your only reminder for medication, a flight, a deadline, or anything where missing it would genuinely hurt. Use it for the everyday stuff.

It could go away

There's no plan to shut it down — quite the opposite — but it could change, break, or stop at any time, with or without warning. If something in here matters to you, keep your own copy of it somewhere else.

Your stuff lives on a home server

It sits on a machine in a house rather than a data centre, on an encrypted drive, backed up regularly, and never sold, shared, scanned, or used to advertise at you.

Worth knowing: whoever runs a service can technically see what's stored on it — that's true here, and it's just as true of Google, Apple and everyone else. The difference is you know exactly who that is and can text him.

Same sensible habit as anywhere else, though: don't keep passwords or card numbers in a notes app, including this one.

Be decent

Only invite people you'd actually want in here, and don't use it for anything illegal or for hassling anyone. That's the whole rulebook.

Otherwise — enjoy it

Seriously, that's the point. It was built to be used. Make it yours, fill it up, and say something if it annoys you or if you wish it did something it doesn't.
